On Tuesday the 10th of June, 24 contestants (6 from each of the 4 Senior Syndicate classes) entered the inter-class Maths Ladder Competition.
In Maths Ladder contestants have to recall the basic facts quickly and move up the 'ladder' - hopefully to the number 1 spot.
The game starts with the contestant on the bottom position (or 'rung') who challenges someone ahead of them on the ladder. If they are able to recall the given question faster than the person they have challenged, they move up to that contestant's position and the contestant the have challenged moves down to the challenger's position. That person then has their go.
The competition was a lot of fun and compelling to watch. Our school has so many able mathematicians. Congratulations to Regan for winning the competition and to Room 1 for winning the class trophy.
The next Maths Ladder Competition takes place in Term 4. Keep practising those facts: 7 x 7, 9 x 3, 8 x 6, 5 x 7, 4 x 4 etc.
House Placings and Points Awarded:
1st PIHIPIHI (33), 2nd TUI (29), 3rd KORIMAKO (23), 4th TIEKE (19)
