Hannah Stark recounts part of our first ever school swimming carnival:
It was time for my 50 metres backstroke race. "3!, 2!, 1! GO!!" I was off and away. I lost my breath at about the half-way point. I could hear Mrs P and all my friends cheering me on. "Yay, I think I came third."
People were yelling at me from the other end of the pool, telling me to get ready for my next race. "OK!", I yelled back. This race was the 100 metres freestyle. I was really nervous about this particular race because you had to dive from the deep end. "I'm so scared", I explained to the other people in my race. "Ready, steady, go", said a teacher. I jumped and did a bellyflop - awwhh! I felt like vomiting."
For her effort, Hannah earns three points for her whanau-house (Tieke) and wins a 'Dri Gear' rashy. Congratulations Hannah and thanks to all the other students who submitted a recount.
